After experimenting with tape feedback, broken cd players and obsolete radio and sound equipment the first endeavors by OBX_ZMK in the fields of electronic music came into shape in the form of self recorded cassette tapes. Influenced by early hardcore techno labels such as PCP, Industrial Strength & Ruffneck, his dj career started out in the Dutch underground freeparty scene. In between teaming up with the notorious ZMK sound system, numerous adventures throughout Europe and starting his own record label, the musical taste of OBX became more experimental, which resulted in a shift towards noise, dark ambient, breakbeats and industrial. Nowadays his sets merge all these different genres going from classic freeparty acid towards energy driven techno and clouds of rhythmical noise structures. Besides playing as a DJ on numerous freeparties around Europe since 1998, OBX released music on various independent record labels such as: ZMK – Obnoxious – OBS.CUR – Scine – YaYa Records – Team Wasted – KM
